The easy mistake is not a bad color reading. It is rotating the cube into a new orientation between faces. On a standard-color 3×3, use the fixed center stickers as your reference and check the unfolded map before you solve.
Start with a fixed Top and Front
Cube Solver's current 3×3 scan flow uses white as Top and green as Front. That is a common color scheme, but not every cube uses it. If your centers are arranged differently, the current guided scan is not a match for that physical cube.
When you show the Top face to the camera, keep the green center below it. For the Right, Front, Left, and Back faces, keep white above. For the Bottom face, keep green above. These prompts are in the app because the same colors in a different orientation describe a different cube state.
Capture one face at a time
Choose 3×3 on Scan. The app steps through Top, Right, Front, Bottom, Left, and Back. Center the nine stickers in the guide grid and capture each face. If lighting makes orange and red look close, move to more even light before continuing.
The camera estimates sticker colors, not the physical identity of each piece. It can be wrong. The confidence display is a cue to inspect, not a guarantee that every square is correct.
Review before you ask for a solution
After all six faces, Cube Solver shows an unfolded cube. Look for a sticker that does not match what you can see on the physical cube. Tap Edit and change individual squares. The review matters because even one mistaken sticker can make the entered cube impossible to solve.
If camera scanning is awkward, use Enter colors and set the stickers manually. The result is the same kind of six-face input. The app validates the entered state before building a solution.
Keep white above the four side faces. Before solving, compare the physical cube with the app's unfolded map, not just the face you scanned last.
What to do next
When the six faces match, build the solution. The guide shows each turn in 3D. You can open the unfolded view at a step if you want to see how the hidden faces changed.
